For 17th century dancers
To my fellow reader I give my heartly welcome.

John Playford is one of the most know dance teacher all times. So this book is a must to everyone who is starting or has danced historical dances. Music is no problem if you know how to play violin or recorder, because there are notes for every dance.

If you don't know how to play that isn't a problem at all. In the internet you can find freely copyable music to almost every dance.

English country dances are easy and fun to dance. And you have to use your head in these dances that is very different to modern discodancing. So buy the book, start to dance it keeps dementia away.

Happy dancing.

Excellent usable guide to 17th century dance
The English Dancing Master has been most useful to our theater company in staging authentic ancient dance. The single line of melody in standard music notation is easy for musicians to use. The dance instructions are clear and make it easy for a small group to learn the dance. The dances are beautiful, and there is a wide variety of styles and partnering.

Making Wooden Mechanical Models: 15 Designs With Visible Wheels, Cranks, Pistons, Cogs, and Cams
Published in Paperback by Popular Woodworking Books (October, 1995)
Authors: Alan Bridgewater and Gill Bridgewater
Average review score:

Great book
This book has a series of interesting projects that can be explored in different ways by teachers and educators. Besides the obvious applications in woodworking practical classes, the projects illustrate in a very simple way concepts and basic ideas in motion and mechanics. These are undoubtedly exciting ways to "tease" students in his discovering of physics and mechanics.

Making Wooden Mechanical Models
This book is great. I am looking at it from a teachers point of view. With our highly mechanized world, I find that students sometimes do not understand the priciples behind some of our most simple machines. Examples might be a lever, inclined plane, pully, or gears and cams. This book not only teaches about the make-up of machines, it teaches them a lesson in woodworking craftsmanship. In order for these projects to work superbly, great care and pride must be taken in the making and assembling of each project. When the projects in this book are completed, they can serve as a model for someone to actually hold and use to grasp concepts of the mechanical nature. They are also great conversation pieces. I would highly recommend this book not only for it's projects, but it's easy to read and understand format.

Murder at the farm : who killed Carl Bridgewater?
Published in Unknown Binding by Sidgwick & Jackson ()
Author: Paul Foot
Average review score:

Blind Justice
This book is written by a seasoned investigative journalist. It concerns a local murder committed at Wordsley in the West Midlands. The case provoked national outrage because the victim, a 13 year-old newspaper delivery boy called Carl Bridgewater, seemed to have stumbled upon a burglary and been gratuitously killed to silence him. Four men were convicted of his murder in 1978. Twenty years later, three walked free from the Court of Appeal - the fourth had died whilst in prison. The author, Paul Foot, had long been one of their leading champions.

Foot tells the story well combining a wealth of evidence of their innocence with a journalist's readability. The story as it unfolds is a depressingly familiar one of the police constructing the case for the prosecution by prematurely concluding investigations into alternative lines of enquiry. The defendants were all small-time local criminals and it was all too easy for the police to believe the worst of them. That is commonplace enough but what followed is what makes this case a particularly instructive one. Foot shows how the police and prosecutors, convinced of the righteousness of their cause, forged confessions and concealed exculpatory evidence to ensure that the defendants were convicted.

As evidence of their innocence mounted over the years, so public concern grew until by the time of their release there had been six separate police inquiries, two hearings before the Court of Appeal and the case had been referred back to the court twice by the Home Secretary. What was almost as bad as the prosecutorial misconduct was the dogged determination of the courts to uphold the convictions in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. We may well ask ourselves - why do courts behave like this?

A Brilliant Read
Paul Foot does it again in this book, about one of the lesser known miscarriages of British justice, the Bridgewater murder, where four men were unjustly imprisoned for the murder of paperboy Carl Bridgewater. Foot meticulously goes through the evidence, finding all the flaws and holes in the prosecution case, and positing a plausible alternate theory as to who could have committed the murder. The Bridgewater Three were released in 1998 (one died in prison), due in large part to the dedicated work of themselves, their families and this fantastic book about them. For anybody interested in the workings or otherwise of Bristish justice, this and Foot's other books about Helen Smith, Colin Wallace and Paul Hanratty are a must read.

Specialist marketing book for MBA students, product managers
This is a unique collection of empirical material describing both systems innovation and the launch of new products. The 14 case studies range from the development of new high tech items such as the Organiser from Psion, to the transfer of a major brand such as Virgin Direct to a new market, each demonstrating the linkage between innovation in marketing and shareholder value.

Based on this, the editors developed a clear analytical model for managing innovation with a marketing perspective. This gives the student and professional a new decision making perspective. The key themes that structure the book are the innovation in marketing model, innovation and strategy, marketing strategies and shareholder value, best practice in innovation management, and effectiveness in innovation.

Outdoor Water Features: 16 Easy-to-Build Projects For Your Yard and Garden

Your Garden Will Be Alive - With the Sound of Water
Do you like the refreshing sound of lemonade trickling into a glass, only you wish it would last longer? The relaxing sound of running water is refreshing and also attracts wildlife. This book has 16 projects you can build, most quite easily, with simple, readily available materials that will add sound and visual interest to your yard.

The book has information about tools, materials and plants, well illustrated with photographs and watercolor drawings. There are even maintenance tips. Some of the projects are as small as container fountains and some as large as ponds. They even discuss "bog gardening." Most of the designs fall in the small to medium size range.

Among the more interesting projects is a "Japanese Deer Scarer" which is an animated bamboo fixture that beats on a rock while dumping water. Also unique is a "Wine Bottle Spray Fountain." (We are avidly gathering the materials for this one as I write.) There are several that utilize sheet copper parts and one made from glass bricks.

There are lots of good tips on design that you can use for your own variations. If you are only going to buy one book on outdoor water features, get this one. It is sure to be an inspiration for your next weekend "water" project.

I love the projects especially the Rabbit Hutch!
I bought this book for the Rabbit Hutch only.
The rabbit hutch is exactly what I wanted. Easy access, simple to build, and the rabbit will love it.
If you put legs on it, it could be used inside with a litter pan underneath, which is what I plan to do with it. But I'm also going to make one for outside as well because it is made so that it's easy to move around.

The other projects include a wheeled two-seater bench (love it), a picnic table (it's not your regular picnic table design), an arbor with a seat, and an arbor with a swing, a folding screen and a very small tool shed. These were the ones I liked the most.
